Between Ontario and Québec, there are a whole lot of open roads to drive and beautiful sights to see. And if you’ve got a motorcycle, it’s a stellar way to experience all the picturesque roads, fjords, and coastlines that the area offers.

Indeed, motorcycle road trips in Ontario and Québec are a thing of beauty — and you’ve got many, many options. Here are five routes worth trying on your next motorcycle excursion.

1. Chatham-Kent Corridor (Ontario)

Quickly becoming one of the most acclaimed motorcycle routes in all of North America, the Chatham-Kent Corridor takes you through 23 small coastline towns along the Thames River, Lake St. Clair, and Lake Erie. You’ll follow Highway 3, weaving through numerous historical sights like the Underground Railroad. There’s also no shortage of adjacent routes if you feel like branching off for a little side-quest.

2. Bruce Peninsula (Ontario)

This one is for the sightseers. Northwest of Toronto, Bruce Peninsula features two national parks and a treasure trove of incredible views. Don’t miss Tobermory, an otherworldly town at the peninsula’s northernmost tip — it’s got some astounding scuba diving through crystal clear freshwater where you can explore old shipwrecks, and inspiring open-air views at the Bruce Peninsula National Park Lookout Tower, among much more. Your camera roll will thank you.

3. Lake Superior (Ontario)

Lake Superior is enormous — it’s the world’s largest freshwater lake — and that means there’s a wealth of shoreline roads to explore. This is a great place for extended road trips. A weeklong trip will take you through sandy beaches in Sault Ste. Marie, waterfalls in the Municipality of Wawa, and the Amethyst Mine Panorama in Thunder Bay. The Lake Superior Circle Tour traverses the entire shoreline of the lake and is a bucket list experience for riders. Whether you are endeavoring for the entire loop or just a portion of it, use this helpful guide to plan your trip.

4. The New France Route (Québec)

Also known as the Route de la Nouvelle-France, this path connects Old Québecto the historic Côte-de-Beaupré region. Road trippers will notice lots of historic structures along the way, like the colony’s first windmill (1651) and numerous ancestral homes. Don’t miss the Bourg du Fargy, an old district that was Beauport’s institutional center in the 1600s and 1700s — numerous centuries of architecture are well preserved here. Finish your journey at North America’s oldest known pilgrimage site, the Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Shrine.

5. The Fjord Route (Québec)

Québec has one of the world’s most unique fjords: the Saguenay fjord. As a completely inland fjord, this one is a real rarity. And motorcyclists will enjoy the tranquil towns that dot the area. There’s a lot to see and do here — whale watching near the St. Lawrence River, 17th-century historical recreations at New France, suspended sphere dwellings (that you can rent!) at Cap Jaseux — go ahead and clear your schedule.
