Among the greatest merits that Italy can boast, there is certainly that for the kitchen, but also that for Fashion and Design. Italian Fashion has significant importance all over the world, in fact, the historic Italian fashion houses such as Gucci, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Versace, Valentino, Trussardi and others are well-known. As evidence of the celebrity of Italian fashion brands, House of Gucci by Ridley Scott was recently released in cinemas all over the world, the film tells the story of the family that founded the brand.

The culture of Italian Design has its roots in interior design, urban design, fashion design and architectural design. The sector brings to light a very important story for Italy.

Today we recognize some places as the most important centers regarding design, for example Milan, is considered the headquarters of Fashion and Design. In this city are known Quadrilatero della moda and Fondazione Prada, the latter also based in Venice.

In addition, every year in Milan there is an important exhibition, Salone del Mobile, which hosts many operators from the furniture sector and many visitors who come from all over the world to learn about this typically Italian tradition.

Also in Milan, twice a year there is Fashion Week, a week where the presence of exclusive fashion shows of the major brands is concentrated. Milan Fashion Week is one of the four largest in the world, along with Paris, London, and New York.

But not only Milan, Italy is crossed by the presence of many textile districts. A story that has its roots in the post-war period, a period in which the demand for an artisan product, a typical feature of Made in Italy, increases. The request involved different products, from clothing to shoes, to jewelry and furniture.

The districts are distributed throughout Italy, from Lombardy to Apulia. This means that almost the entire Italian territory has an industrial tradition linked to fashion. One of the largest districts is Carpi and the province of Modena, in the heart of Emilia Romagna. Many of the companies in this area specialize in knitwear, textiles and also clothing and make up one of the most important textile centres in Europe and worldwide.

The other Italian record that cannot be missed is that of good food.

Food is considered very important for Italians, who like to spend lunches and dinners in company, eating a good dish. In every single Italian destination, you can know and taste the different typical dishes of the area. Among the most well-known foods around the world there is pizza, lasagna, carbonara pasta and much more.

The reason why our food is so widely appreciated is the quality of the raw materials but also for the variety of flavors that make up the Mediterranean diet, the most widely followed ever. Made in Italy food, therefore, is synonymous with tradition and quality.

Do not also forget wines, oil, cured meats and cheeses, of which Italy can boast many types, many of which are protected by specific brands (PDO, PGI…). The PDO indicates products with a Protected Designation of Origin, to guarantee the quality of the product, while the PGI are those with a Protected Geographical Indication, they are all products that have a certain quality that depends on the geographical origin. Italy has the largest number of PDO and PGI products and the regions that are richest in them are Emilia-Romagna and Veneto.

Next to a good dish, do not forget to drink one of the excellent Italian wines. There are several wine-producing areas and wine is exported and sold all over the world. Among the best are: Brunello di Montalcino, Barolo, Amarone, Chianti, Franciacorta, Lambrusco and Montepulciano, coming from the entire Italian territory.

Only by visiting Italy you can know and fully understand the two traditions that represent a source of pride for all the Italian inhabitants. Those who decide to immerse themselves in Italian culture are immediately involved in the passion for what is beautiful and good.
