It seems that Ohio’s roadside attraction architects have taken notes from Ricky Bobby’s father – “If you’re not first, you’re last.” Driving between Ohio’s major cities, you’ll see several signs for the “World’s Largest _____.” We’ve made a list of a few of our favorite record-setting pit stops. Try making a road trip out of all of them.

The World’s Largest Basket | Newark, Ohio
Standing at more than seven stories, the World’s Largest Basket is a monument to wicker picnic baskets. It’s actually a functioning building, with windows that light up at night, but that doesn’t mean that someone is inside. It has been vacant for a while now.

The World’s Largest Rubber Stamp | Cleveland, Ohio
The World’s Largest Rubber Stamp is about 30-feet tall and made of steel. If it were dipped on an ink pad and pressed to the ground, the word “FREE” would be its result. It certainly wasn’t free when the art was commissioned by Standard Oil after its creation, it was mysteriously hidden away in storage for seven years before its installation, two blocks from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The World’s (Second) Largest Gavel | Columbus, Ohio
It’s a competition that none could have predicted. For 10 years, the stainless-steel gavel outside the Ohio Supreme Court building was the undisputed champion. But in 2018, a wooden gavel installed in Marshall, Illinois was named the largest. Rest assured, they are both VERY big and worth a stop for a photo.

The World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock | Sugarcreek, Ohio
It’s a fully functioning mechanical spectacle, keeping time, and keeping the good times rolling in the small town of Sugarcreek. Swing by to see the automated band and dancers in action.

The World’s Largest Drumsticks | Warren, Ohio
Dave Grohl has been a fixture in rock & roll history since the 90s and the emergence of grunge music. Today, he is honored in his birth town of Warren, Ohio with an alley near the courthouse square. Along with several murals, the alley is home to the world’s largest drumsticks, remembering the musician’s time as drummer for Nirvana.
