Kittery is surrounded by water, including the Piscastaqua River and Spruce Creek. The shores are known for their rocky features; however, some sandy launches can be found as well. Spruce Creek is a popular destination for paddlers looking to explore the endless inlets and shores.
Plum Island | Massachusetts
One hour north from the center of Boston is Plum Island. It’s a barrier island that keeps ocean waters calm, perfect for kayaking. Explore the open water or paddle inland along the Parker River.
Lowell Lake State Park | Vermont
Especially for stand-up paddle boarders, it’s helpful that the park doesn’t allow motorized boats. Lowell Lake is a perfect place to try paddleboarding for the first time. Especially on a summer morning, the water is serene, and the views are hard to beat. You can find the lake less than an hour from Bennington.
