Traveling is all about having fun and relaxing, but it can feel stressful and overwhelming at times. So, how can you make the most out of your travels? Our friend and frequent Best Western Hotel and Resorts traveler Yerang gave us her top 8 tips for making the most out of your trips.

1. Pack ahead of departure.

If you have a busy day ahead of you, pack up the night before and leave your belongings by the door for easy convenience. Be sure to leave out what you need – cell phone, itinerary, etc. – or pack in an easily accessible spot. This will help you move faster and stay on top of your schedule.

2. Schedule rest time.

It can be hard to resist planning your day minute by minute, but it won’t be worth it if you are exhausted. Give yourself a rest day that way you can be energized and present to enjoy it all!

3. It’s okay if things don’t go according to plan.

Life rarely ever goes according to plan. When unexpected changes occur, ask for recommendations from the Best Western staff or prepare in advance a list of backup options in case the attraction or restaurant is unavailable that day.

4. Ask the front desk for help.

Connect with your Best Western front desk attendant with your needs or questions. Whether it’s an early check-in or an extra blanket, they are happy to help you. Remember, be kind and respectful, especially as hotels begin to bounce back from COVID setbacks.

5. Chat with the locals.

Locals know their city inside out. They can offer you better recommendations to the city than you could find online. Once you have a list of recommendations, do a quick Yelp or Google search and decide based on that.

6. Stop by roadside views and attractions.

If you aren’t in a rush, take a short detour and uncover incredible views or places you wouldn’t have encountered otherwise.

7. Don’t be afraid to try something different.

The best discoveries are always going to be outside of your comfort zone. If you don’t like it, at least you can say you tried!

8. Take as many pictures as you can!

As mom says, “At the end of the day, all that’s left are pictures.” Your photos allow you to cherish these moments, big or small, for many years. Don’t be afraid to set up that tripod and get some fantastic shots of yourself! People may stare, but you’ll never see them again anyway. DO YOU.
