Eugene, Oregon is the perfect place to spend your next long weekend, offering an exciting range of indoor and outdoor possibilities. From farmers markets to craft breweries to world-class museums, this 48-hour travel guide will have you living like a local.

DAY 1

08:00 – Fuel up at the hotel

Build your own at breakfast at your hotel. You’ve got a big day ahead of you.

09:00 – Hike Spencer’s Butte

This is the perfect way to kick-off your day exploring the city, thanks to a 360º view of the city from the summit. A number of different well-maintained trails makes sure no one is overwhelmed, or bored… by the terrain.

11:00 – Roam through the Whit

After a quick stop at the hotel to change out of your hiking clothes, head to the Whiteaker neighborhood. Known as “The Whit” to locals, this formally industrial part of town has become an eccentric hub of small shops, art galleries and eateries.

12:30 – Stop by Wandering Goat Coffee Co. for a caffeine boost

In need of a pick-me-up after all this walking? Visit one of Eugene’s coffee roasters, the Wandering Goat Coffee Co., for locally sourced goodies.

13:00 – Grab lunch at Nelson’s Taqueria

Eugene offers something for every type of taste bud! Stop by Nelson’s Taqueria for savory tacos delivered right out of a stationary trailer. Not in the mood for tacos? Lucky for you, Nelson’s serves breakfast all day.

14:00 – Wander through the 5th Street Public Market

Once you’ve had your fill of tacos, head to the 5th Street Public Market, the area’s premier shopping destination. You’re sure to find a souvenir to take home among the mix of upscale boutiques and local shops.

17:30 – Take a class at Provisions Market Hall

With everything from fine groceries to gifts and cooking tools, a stop by Provisions Market Hall is always time well spent. Spend the evening taking a class like Wine 101 or participate in a Chef’s Showcase. Pasta making, anyone?

20:00 – Sneak a late-night snack at Voodoo Doughnut

If you’re craving something sweet after leaving Provisions, stop by the Eugene outpost of Voodoo Doughnut for a late night, cereal-covered snack.  Not a doughnut person? You’re sure to find something at Sweet Life Patisserie which serves up eight special desserts every month, ranging from cheesecakes to cupcakes to pies.

DAY 2

32:00 – Breakfast at the Hotel

An omelet is exactly the brain food you need for the day ahead!

33:00 – Explore the University of Oregon

The University of Oregon might be known for their sports programs, but the campus is also home to beautiful architecture and world class museums. Spend your morning discovering art from around the world at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. Afterwards, stop by the Eugene Pioneer Cemetery for a self-guided tour or to the university’s Museum of Natural History to explore the archaeology, geology and folklife of Oregon.

38:00 – Lunch at Falling Sky Pizzeria & Public House

Falling Sky is a staple on the University of Oregon campus thanks to their homemade breads, condiments and pickles. They also have a range of tasty sandwiches and vegan options, as well.

40:00 – Follow the Eugene Ale Trail

You can’t go far to Eugene without visiting a craft brewery. Luckily, the Eugene Ale Trail makes this easy! Discover some of the region’s best breweries while collecting stamps in your Ale Trail passport and check-in to the trail’s app to win beer-themed prizes. Here’s a little secret: head out to Brewers Union Local 180 in nearby Oakridge, Oregon for a commemorative stainless steel pint glass with your Ale Trail stamp!
