Located in Union Station, The Durham Museum nestles its home in one of Omaha’s most fascinating and historical places. Past exhibits like “Julia Child: A Recipe for life” will make you say, “Bon appetite!” and upcoming exhibits like “Toytopia” include the world’s largest etch a sketch, a nearly 8 feet tall!

Ask anyone from Omaha where you should grab a bite and many will respond with a resounding, “Block 16”. The restaurant brings innovative flavors and dishes to Omaha, but is best known for its juicy burgers. This farm-to-table street food restaurant has won many accolades holding the title for “Best Burger” and was a James Beard Awards Semifinalist. Stand in Nebraska and Iowa at the same time

The Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, known to locals as “Bob the Bridge” is a 3,000-foot-long walkway that stretches across the Missouri River and connects Omaha, Nebraska with Council Bluffs, Iowa. You can literally stand on the bridge and be in Nebraska and Iowa at the same time!

 

The Birthplace of the Reuban sandwich

Omaha lore supports the notion that Omaha, Nebraska is the birthplace for the Reuban sandwich. In 1925, Rebuan Kulakofsky created the sandwich to feed local late-night poker players. Today, you can grab a delicious Reuban sandwich at Crescent Moon, Omaha’s Original Ale House and voted “Omaha’s Best Reuban Sandwich”.
