Paris is definitely a dream destination. Every year, more than 30 million people flock to the city of love, also known as the city of light.
Known throughout the world as the city of love, Paris offers a unique romantic experience. Monuments, lights, fashion and fantastic cuisine are all good reasons to enjoy a romantic stay in the French capital.
When we think of Paris, we often imagine couples in love, à la Edith Piaf singing “Sous le ciel de Paris” or “La vie en rose“, or kissing, as in Robert Doisneau’s famous photo “The Kiss by the Hôtel de Ville”.
More than anything else, Paris is all about monuments, with their aura of mystery and romanticism.
Representing the capital’s most visited monument, the unmissable Eiffel Tower offers a breath-taking view across all of Paris before inviting you to discover the finest French cuisine in its Michelin-starred “Jules Verne” restaurant, located on the second floor.
In fact, discovering historical monuments will doubtless be an essential part of your stay. What could be more romantic than contemplating Paris atop the Arc de Triomphe, then strolling down the “most beautiful avenue in the world” and admiring the magnificent Luxor Obelisk on Place de la Concorde? Then continuing on your way along the Rue de Rivoli to admire the antiques shops and the Louvre pyramid, before stopping for a rest in the Jardins des Tuileries. For a gourmet break, why not try the renowned “Angélina” tea room with its delicious pastries.
You can then head towards the famous Notre Dame de Paris cathedral, still undergoing reconstruction following the 2019 fire. Its structure is so astonishingly majestic that you simply have to stop there. To continue your walk, we suggest crossing the River Seine on Le Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris, or making a wish on the Pont des Arts also called the Pont des Amoureux, before walking through the vibrant, trendy and romantic Marais district, with its cobbled streets.
With its different neighbourhoods, Paris offers a total change of scenery every time you round a corner, making your stay an unforgettable and romantic experience.
In the Saint Germain district, you have to go to the “Café de Flore” which was – and still is to some extent – the place where the city’s artists hang out. Jean Paul Sartre, Pablo Picasso and Simone de Beauvoir, among others, were regulars here. Full of flowers, this typically Parisian café is an ideal stopping point for a coffee or an omelette amidst the beautiful people. Steeped in history, it is still a much sought-after meeting place.
Close to the Montmartre district, after climbing the steps, you’ll be taken in by its houses covered in vines and its bars with terraces bedecked with red check tablecloths, where you can taste French wine along with a platter of charcuterie cold cuts.
The Montmartre district is also highly popular with people who come to admire Le mur des « je t’aime » (the ‘I love you’ wall) located in the Parc de Jean-Rictus, or to simply wander down its cobbled streets. You will also have a chance to enjoy the district’s street shows and guinguette open-air cafés, admire the Sacré Coeur and visit the incredible vineyards in this unique neighbourhood.
Paris is full of magnificent parks and gardens, veritable havens of greenery that invite you to relax, far from the hubbub of the city.
For a more classical evening, Opéra Garnier, the largest opera in the world, offers a variety of shows: opera, ballet or theatre, not forgetting La Comédie-Française where you can relive France’s greatest theatrical classics in the House of Molière.
