Are you a foodie making a trip to Chicago? You probably already know that Chicago is the pilgrimage for many foodies across the country. With so many delicious foods to choose from, there’s so many choices with so little time. That’s why we narrowed down our top five Chicago must have eats, so your focus is on food and fun – and we left out Chicago deep dish pizza and Chicago hot dogs, just this one time.

Eat a Filipino Breakfast Sandwich at Kasama

As the only Filipino restaurant in the world to receive a Michelin star, Kasama approaches Filipino food with a modern take. While their 13-course dinner service requires reservations 45 days out, opt instead for a simple but tasty breakfast. Order the breakfast sandwich which includes a longganisa patty, gooey cheese, a potato bun, a perfectly squared egg, and don’t forget to add the hash brown for crunch.

Eat a Jibarito, a Puerto Rican-inspired Sandwich at La Bomba

This breadless sandwich was born in 1996 and has gained popularity ever since. Jibarito means “little yokel” and in-between two plantains you can find steak, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and garlic mayo. Variations of this delicious Puerto Rican-inspired sandwich can be found all over Chicago, but go to La Bomba for a classic take on the original.

Try Indian fusion food at Superkhana International

This fun Indian fusion restaurant has come a long way from years of pop-ups. But approaching their cooking with unconventional flavors is what won them a Michelin star. Grab their butter chicken calzone that includes tender pieces of chicken thigh wrapped with mozzarella and amul cheese, and brushed with ghee.

Eat the Chocolate Cake from The Bear at the Loaf Lounge

If you’re a fan of the TV show, The Bear, you’ll be delighted to know that the Loaf Lounge carries a delicious cake made by owner, baker, and consultant for the show, Sarah Mispagel. With airy layers of chocolate cake and frosting, a decadent slice of this delicious concoction will be sure to send you to the moon and back.

Grab a Rainbow Cone and a smile

A century of smiles – the Original Rainbow Cone has been a Chicago Favorite since 1926. Created by “Grandpa Joe” Sapp, who was never satisfied with just one flavor, he created the Rainbow Cone to mix up the palette. The stacked flavors include Orange Sherbet, Pistachio, Palmer House, Strawberry and Chocolate. Grab a Rainbow Cone and a smile.
