City breaks always provide a fantastic opportunity to explore exciting new urban cultures and novel cuisines, as well as a chance to visit historic landmark attractions. Yet, traveling solo means you don’t get the chance to share the experience, so why not invite your furry companion to join you on the journey on your next trip away?

From the stunning Snoqualmie Falls outside of Seattle to a pet-friendly craft beer brewery in Boulder – as our urban areas become increasingly more animal-friendly, we’ve created the ultimate city guide of pet-friendly destinations in North America for you and your pet to visit together.

Explore Austin’s Pet-Friendly Shopping Destinations

Our first pet-friendly destination is the vibrant city of Austin, Texas, famous for its electric music scene and outdoor lifestyle. Home to countless pet-friendly parks and open spaces, our two must-see locations when you’re in town are Austin’s Zilker Park and Norwood Estate Dog Park.

Austin offers numerous spots for you and your furry companion to hang out, but if you like being on the water together, you can kayak, canoe, and swim together in Red Bud Isle Park. Then, after a morning out on the water, why not explore the exclusive shopping district of The Domain, which, with several pet-friendly boutique shops and cafés, makes for a superb way to spend an afternoon in Austin.

Stroll around the bustling streets with your best friend, and then both get a great night’s sleep at the Aiden Austin City Hotel in Austin, Texas, where pets are always welcome.

Admire Seattle’s Stunning Skyline Views on a Pet-Friendly Ferry

Heading to the Pacific Northwest next, our second pet-inspired destination getaway finds us in the evergreen city of Seattle, Washington. Renowned for its urban green spaces, our two favorite dog-friendly parks here are Magnuson Park Off-Leash Area and Woodland Park.

Keen to encourage animal lovers to explore the city, if you’re looking for a fun way to sightsee around the Seattle waterfront, we recommend jumping on the numerous Washington State Ferries for a unique view of this special city’s skyline. Another top tip for pet-friendly places to visit is the stunning Snoqualmie Falls east of the city, which includes a two-acre park and an outstanding view of this famous 270-foot waterfall.

Explore this incredible city with your furry friend, and be sure to book yourselves into the pet-friendly Best Western Plus Edmonds Harbor Inn in Edmonds, Washington.

Discover the Excitement of Toronto’s Festival for Dog

For pet lovers keen to discover what treats Canada has in store, we head north of the border next to Toronto, Ontario. With amazing parks and open spaces dotted around the city, the best recreational areas in Toronto for us are High Park and Cherry Beach Off Leash Dog Park.

As one of the best pet-friendly cities in the world, you should time your visit to Toronto to join in at Woofstock, the largest festival for dogs in North America. We also suggest taking to the streets to interact and enjoy the friendly local hospitality, and in particular, enjoy a meal with your best friend at the pet-friendly, New Zealand-inspired Hemingway’s Restaurant and Bar.

Dive into the cultural warmth and fascinating attractions across this great city by booking your and your animal’s stay at the Best Western Premier Toronto Airport Carlingview Hotel in Toronto, Ontario.

Enjoy Boulder’s Favourite Pet-Friendly Craft Brewery

Our next recommendation is ideal for combining the great outdoors with a vacation away with your best friend in the spectacular city of Boulder, Colorado. Famed for being one of the best pet-friendly destinations, there are several superb parks dotted around the city limits. However, our favorites are the East Boulder Dog Park & Twin Lakes Off-Leash Dog Swim.

Our first suggestion for you both to sightsee Boulder is to head to University Bicycles to rent a bike to cycle and run along the numerous cycle trails and routes throughout the city. After a day out exploring together, we suggest getting a bite to eat and an ice-cold brew with the dog-friendly team at Sanitas Brewing Company to end the day in style.

Uncover the bounty of pet-friendly places to see before getting a great night’s sleep at the Best Western Plus Boulder Louisville, where pets are welcome, in Louisville, Colorado.

Experience Minneapolis’ Art Sculpture Garden with Your Furry Friend

Our final city, Minneapolis, Minnesota, is renowned as a top pet-friendly vacation destination in North America and is famously known as the City of Lakes. Despite the almost limitless number of parks and outdoor spaces, our two favorite parks are Boom Island Park and Minnehaha Regional Park, which even features its own waterfall.

Embracing Minneapolis’ love for the creative arts, our first pet-inspired attraction is the remarkable Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, which forms part of the Walker Art Center – although dogs must remain on a leash. Our second high point for a trip to Minneapolis is to walk across the city’s iconic Stone Arch Bridge, which is designed to accommodate dog walkers, it certainly offers a fun setting for a dog walk together.

Marvel at the city’s arts and cultural attractions on a pet-friendly vacation away by booking your stay at the Best Western Plus The Normandy Inn & Suites in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
